Last Friday saw Olga Borodina perform “The Field of the Dead” from Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky cantata at the first night of the BBC Proms.
Under the baton of Maestro Oramo, Olga wowed the Proms audience together with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Chorus of Wales and BBC Symphony Chorus:
“Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky cantata…a refined intervention from Olga Borodina in the ‘Field of the Dead’ section; this Russian mezzo’s artistry allowed her to weave exquisite arabesques around the choral theme.” The Independent
“Highlight of the FIRST NIGHT BBC Proms was the majestic Olga Borodina entering through the BBC Symphony Orchestra to survey the battlefield dead. That sound.” Edward Seckerson
“Olga Borodina provided velvety Russian tone in a heartfelt lament over the bodies on the battlefield” The Guardian
